A chance for Utah County to get shot in the face

So according to the Salt Lake Tribune, Dick Cheney is the tentatively scheduled speaker for this April’s BYU Commencement Exercises, a speaking position usually occupied by an apostle of the LDS Church.

Dude.

DUDE.

If I were graduating this April, I think I’d be exploding about now, but as it is, it’s something more along the lines of complete and utter disbelief. What planet am I on?!

There's movements both among faculty and students to oppose it. Don't worry. We'll fight it tooth and nail, kicking and shooting in the face.
It was great, my German teacher compared it to Hitler made into a Christ figure in Nazi propaganda (because that's what we're talking about this week).

That's what I've been hearing, Chris, and I'm mucho, mucho glad. Was that Keele that said that? I love that man.

And Mom, I read your email, and just wanted to remind you that you're amazing. Much love!

Sad news. Why do people in Utah have to mix the church with conservative politics? Fortunately, it is not that way everywhere, particularly overseas. For me, one important saving grace of the church is precisely that it is a world church and is steadily becoming less Utah parochial--something that has been visible in my own lifetime.

I sent a letter to Carri Jenkins, too, hope it helps some.

Love, Dad
